This tool allows you to perform Whois lookups. Whois database contains data about the nameservers, registrar and in some cases, full contact information of the domain owner. Every registrar maintains a Whois database containing all contact information for each domain they are registrars of. A central Whois registry database is maintained by the InterNIC itself, however this database contains only registrar and nameserver information for .com, .net and .org domains.
